Isolation and Community

Beah's storytelling let's me know that no matter how isolated one can be the idea of knowing you have family and friends (community) is imperative.  Being surrounded by loved ones makes you feel relax, happy and even at peace.  Beah came arcoss feeling isolated when he was lost in the forest just thinking about all the sadness he had been through while in this journey of running from the rebels.  He realized that being rescued by some old friends made him feel more at peace even though they wasn't his actually family.  He also felt extreme gratitude by some people in the village that had helped some strangers ( Beah and the boys) as if they were family.
