Titles for ALWG

Chapter 1 Separation- Beah had been informed that the rebels had been attacking the villages including his own.  The thought of being separated from his family and not knowing if they survived crossed his mind all the time.  Through out Beah's journey was hope that this was just a temporary separation from his family.

Chapter 5 Life or Death - Beah's life was about to come to an end by the rebel's until gunshots were heard and the rebels ran for cover.  Once the boys noticed an opportunity to escape they did and ran for their life. 

Chapter 8 On My Own - Beah was isolated for the first time of his journey.  He was lost in a forest with no friends, the only thing he had was memories to help him survive the thoughts of fear and death.

Chapter 11 Shattered Dreams - Beah's hopes was high of finding his parents especially when he was told they were alive and well.  He had been worried for a while searching for his family with the hopes of them being alive through the war.  As he reached 2 miles with the thought of excitement running through his mind, that all changed when he heard gunshots near the village his family was suppose to have been.  Beah ran to the village as fast as good hoping to get his family out before the rebels had attack but, it was too late the death of his family took all his dreams and memories away.

Chapter 12 Breathe Again - The boys were held at gunpoint by the army.  There first reaction was death until the army showed them that they are able to breathe again with the relief of the army wanting to help.  They noticed a sense of their village when they approached the camp filled with children playing and mothers cooking.

Chapter 15 Abandon - The boys had a sense of abandonment when the got sent to rehabilitation center.  The boys was sent their by the lieutenant with the hopes of them starting a new life.  The boys looked at the lieutenant as a father figure.

Chapter 18 Recovery -  Beah started to remember the great memories of his family, listening to his old rap music, and smiling while talking to strangers again.  During this time Beah was starting to trust people again.  He was giving great news that he have a family member thats alive, which is what Beah needs to make a descent recovery. 

Chapter 19 Lucky One - Beah survived so much through out his journey it's as if an angel was sent to shield him from harm.  He survived the army, rehab, and now lucky enough to escape the war in Freetown by having a passport to escape the country.

Chapter 20 City and Dreams - Beah's dreams of New York was rap music and  people getting shot on the streets while getting away with it.  He never imagined the city of New York to be so fast paced, architecturally beautiful and millions of people.

Chapter 21 Home Away Home - Beah finally felt secure, free and safe being away from his home (Sierra leone) where he was subjected of so much harm as a child.  He finally felt like he could try an live another life in a new home, while teach America about what's going on in Sierra Leone about children being forced into the army and the RUF with the hopes of his speech making a difference.
